Add video to the product image gallery
You can add videos for your product in two ways: uploading a video file (from version 4.6.0 onwards), or embedding a YouTube video link.
1. Embedding a YouTube video link
Simply click the Add media from URL dropdown link and select the Embed YouTube video menu item. You can then paste the YouTube URL of your video into the required field.
The YouTube videos included within the video section are currently using the YouTube API which slightly compresses the video to 720p. Whilst using this API, we unfortunately don't have much control over how the video loads into the page or the quality. If this is an issue please contact support and we can look into how this can be changed.
2. Uploading a video file
If you're uploading video files, then make sure that they meet the following requirements:
- Video length: Up to 60 seconds
- Video size: Up to 1 GB
- Video resolution: Up to 4K (4096 x 2160 px)
- Video file type:
.mp4
or.mov
You don't need to meet these requirements for embedding YouTube videos.
Add video to the product description
The quickest and easiest way to insert video to your product descriptions is to use the embed snippet as supplied by YouTube/Vimeo which usually starts with "<iframe …". You can usually find these snippets by clicking the Share icon/button on YouTube/Vimeo and looking for the Embed tab in the pop up.
Once you have copied the embed code, return to your product editor page and click on the button with the camera icon in the text edit toolbar you will be presented with the popup below. Paste your embed code in to that field click the 'Insert video' button and save.
Add video to the product tabs
Another way to add video to your product page would be to put a single or multiple videos in your product tabs.
You can create a new page and simply embed a single or multiple video(s) using the method above. You can then insert that 'video' page into a tab. This is a global action so all your products will get this video tab with the same content.
If you want a UNIQUE tab for a single product then here's also the 'H6 method' for creating tabs within the main description.
Please see the articles linked below on setting up global or unique H6 tabs.
