Venue - Sections - Add videos to your store
You can add video to your store in several different places:
Product pages
Product page videos require their own article - please see the article linked at the bottom of this page
Home page sections
Slideshow
In the Slideshow section of the Venue theme you can use a silent video background instead of a static image. To use a video background you need to choose the Video slide block type when adding a new slide. Since version 4.6.3 you can use 'self-hosted' MP4 videos as well as videos streamed from YouTube. We recommend you use the self-hosted video option for better store performance and page loading.
Slideshow videos are 'moving wallpaper' with no sound. The video will auto-play and your visitor will have no way to pause the video. You have the option to upload a static 'fallback' image in case the video doesn't play on your visitor's device.
Pro tip: Video slides can significantly affect down the page loading speed and general performance of your store. We recommend you use static images over video slides if performance is a priority.
For more detail on video slides please see the article linked at the bottom of this page.
The YouTube videos included within the video section are currently using the YouTube API which slightly compresses the video to 720p. Whilst using this API, we unfortunately don't have much control over how the video loads into the page or the quality. If this is an issue please contact support and we can look into how this can be changed.
Image with text
This section accepts links to YouTube or Vimeo videos. You might choose this option to give a deeper understanding of your brand's story or some behind-the-scenes video of your products being manufactured. The video will play in a pop-out window and requires you to upload a thumbnail image that will displayed in the home page with a play button overlaid on top.
Image with text overlay
This section accepts links to YouTube or Vimeo videos. You might choose this option to give a deeper understanding of your brand's story or to explain a particular feature of your product. This section is designed to give a lot of focus to one main video with some short text above the play button. The video will play in a pop-out window and requires you to upload a thumbnail image that will displayed in the section with a play button overlaid on top.
Video gallery
This section accepts links to YouTube or Vimeo videos. Use this section if you have a series of videos you'd like your visitors to view or simply have a lot of videos on offer. Think of this section as a mini YouTube channel. The video will play directly in the page and does not require you to upload a thumbnail image although you can use a thumbnail override image if the thumbnail served from YouTube/Vimeo is poor quality or unsuitable.
Have a look at the example home page linked below - it has examples of all the sections listed above.

Other pages and blog posts
The quickest and easiest way to insert video to your blog posts and 'other' pages is to use the embed snippet as supplied by YouTube/Vimeo which usually starts with "<iframe …". You can usually find these snippets by clicking the Share icon/button on YouTube/Vimeo and looking for the Embed tab in the pop up.
Once you have copied the embed code, return to your blog post/page editor and click on the button with the camera icon in the text edit toolbar you will be presented with the popup below. Paste your embed code in to that field click the 'Insert video' button and save.
